The second Féile Átha Da Chab, Ballydehob Traditional Music, Song and Dance Festival will be held in Ballydehob, Co. Cork, Ireland, on April 18-20, 2008. The weekend will follow pretty much the same format of the first year, except that in 2008, there will also be a concert in the hall featuring the workshop teachers and the céilí will be on Sunday afternoon instead of Saturday night.
Traditional musicians already signed up to do workshops that weekend include Harry Bradley (flute), Bobby Gardiner (button accordion), Jim Murray (guitar), Jesse Smith (fiddle), Edel Fox (concertina) and Ronan Reagan (seannós dancing). There will also be a seannós and traditional singing workshop again, details to follow soon!
So, time to buy a calendar for 2008 and highlight April 18-20 as a weekend not to be missed.
Profiles of musicians giving next year's workshops will be posted here over the course of the next few months, so keep an eye on this blog for those and further updates.
